How do athletic trainers help with sports injuries?
Our athletic trainers are experts in physical movement and optimal function. They will prescribe you a tailored treatment plan based on your specific needs after thoroughly assessing your physical condition. Manual therapy, stretching to improve balance and mobility, and strengthening exercises to improve range of motion and reduce scar tissue may all be included in your physical therapy plan.
As movement experts, we treat a variety common athletic injuries. Those include but are not limited to:
Injuries to the Knee
The knee is the most complex joint in your body, and it’s also one of the most commonly injured. Knee issues can range from minor aches and pains running from your hip to your knee to more serious issues such as an ACL tear.
Strains or “torn muscles”
When the tendon that connects the muscle to the bone is stretched beyond its breaking point, the result is a “pulled muscle.” After being overstretched, the tendon is more likely to be strained again.
Shin splints
Shin splints can be caused by shinbone tension. This condition can be excruciatingly painful and keep you from going about your daily activities. They can, however, be avoided by wearing proper footwear, stretching, and warming up before exercise.
Sprains
A sprain occurs when a ligament that connects two bones becomes overstretched. This could be a recurring problem.
