AlterG Treadmill

Woman Getting Massage

Physical therapy is all about providing treatment in the form of strengthening exercises for any physical injury. We offer specialized equipment at both H2 Health and Atlas Physical Therapy call the AlterG® Treadmill. Our Anti-Gravity Treadmill empowers people to move in new ways and without pain – to recover mobility, improve wellness, and enhance physical performance.

Out AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill uses patented, NASA technology to create a pressurized air calibration chamber customized to the user’s body weight. Using a pressurized air chamber to uniformly reduce body weight in precise 1% increments allows the user to move unrestricted and pain-free. This allows the body to build muscle strength, increase range of motion, improve balance, and exercise without the wear and tear of gravity.

Injured Athletes

1.35 million athletes ages 12-17 go to Emergency Departments each year to be treated for sports-related injuries. Sprains, strains, fractures, and ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injuries are common not only for youth sports, but also adult sports and weekend warriors.

Flexibility and balance are essential to any healthy exercise routine, but injuries are not preventable. The AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill is an important tool in a rehabilitation program to recover an injury quickly. Pain can be reduced during and after physical therapy sessions allowing athletes to start rehab sooner and maintain fitness while undergoing rehab. Gravity’s impact is reduced in the AlterG by selecting any weight between 20% and 100% of body weight in 1% increments.

Seniors

Most people over the age of 65 when surveyed by Medicare are afraid of falling. The AlterG offers a unique fall-safe environment and is great for long-term treatment. Once a user starts the AlterG Treadmill, it is virtually impossible to fall out. As the AlterG activates and the unweighting process lifts the user, it becomes easier and easier to walk. Multiple handlebars that can be grabbed at any time they feel off balance.

Walking normally is part of recovering from a stroke or traumatic brain injury, and the sooner the better. The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill enables the user to start balancing exercises and walking sooner than with traditional rehab technologies. This allows users to focus on muscle coordination in a low-impact environment without fear of falling. Neurological patients walk longer and more comfortably.

The AlterG is great for helping people who suffer from:
