Pediatric Music Therapy
At Great Strides, we believe in the power of music to inspire, heal, and transform lives. Our pediatric music therapy program is designed to help children from birth to age 21 with developmental diagnoses reach their milestones in a fun, engaging, and therapeutic way. Through rhythm, melody, and movement, our board-certified music therapists use evidence-based techniques to support communication, motor skills, emotional expression, and social interaction. Whether a child is learning to take their first steps, improving speech, or building confidence, music provides a unique and motivating path to progress.

Common Diagnoses
Music therapy helps children with ASD improve communication, social skills, and sensory processing. Engaging in music-making can encourage verbal and nonverbal communication, support emotional expression, and promote interaction with peers.
Singing and rhythmic speech patterns help children develop articulation, vocabulary, and sentence structure. Music enhances language processing and memory, making it easier for children to retain and use new words.
Rhythmic movement and instrument play help improve coordination, strength, and fine motor skills. Music-based movement therapy encourages children to develop better control over their gross and fine motor movements.
Music therapy fosters social engagement, cognitive development, and communication skills. Singing and interactive music activities help reinforce speech patterns and attention span.
Music’s structure and rhythm help improve focus, impulse control, and self-regulation. Playing instruments and rhythmic exercises enhance attention and executive functioning skills.
Music therapy provides a controlled way to expose children to different sounds, textures, and movement, helping them regulate their sensory experiences. Rhythmic activities can promote self-soothing and emotional regulation.
Music offers a calming outlet for stress and anxiety, helping children express emotions in a nonverbal way. Guided relaxation techniques using music can promote emotional stability and coping skills.
Structured music activities encourage cognitive, speech, and motor development. Engaging in music-making promotes confidence, participation, and overall growth in milestone achievement.
